According to the Bloomberg News Agency, the gold plated silver copies of the famous Danish Golden Horns were stolen from the Royal Jelling Museum in Denmark
at 4:30 in the morning on September 17, 2007 and recovered a few days later.
The original artifacts, discovered in 1639 by a local peasant girl, were stolen by
goldsmith Niels Heidenreich. The jeweler melted down the horns and made various
jewelry and fake coins. Other gold plated bronze replicas were stolen and recovered in 1993.
